The Hill Tavern, Clent

# 199

Date: Thursday 24th May
Pub: The Hill Tavern, Clent
Food/drinks: Sandwiches & chips (served with a side order of scorn)
Hare: Tits or Treats

Trail: Tits or Treats couldn’t really give many details away about tonight’s hash, I think she maybe spent too much time in the sunshine this afternoon but 19 hashers and 4 dogs had a wonderfully hilly climb around the Clent hills on this fine summer’s evening.  A steep incline at the start, with lots of checks and some confusion.  A beautiful view from the top – a perfect place for a hash halt – oh, wait, there was one???  Back down and round to the next halt where (some of) the FRB’s were challenged to downing a bottle of beer for missing the first.  Round through the woods, where we encountered another group of similarly kitted out folk trying to give out false directions.  Are you?  Hmmm!  It became apparent at the next halt that Tough Love had fallen; raising delight at his plight rather than concern for his injury.  Of course, there are always sweets to take your mind off things!  Clodhopper also had suspiciously dirty knees although denied falling.  Down towards the castle, where a short but steep detour to view the bluebells found the Amateur taking a shortcut; he obviously isn’t one for flowers.  A group photo in front of the castle seemed almost impossible due to Spotted Dick’s distracting rings.

Doggy Fashion opted, diplomatically, to skip item one this evening, rather than to observe a minute’s silence; then awarded down downs to the Hare for her wonderful trail; but commented on Tits or Treats and the Pro’s artistic differences; Tough Love for his obvious fall (bloodied knee); Clodhopper for his suspected fall (dirty knees); Spotted Dick for his interesting attire of virgin socks, luminous vest, and once removed, his nipple rings; and the Italian Job for stealing drinks.  Doggy Fashion should have awarded one to herself for stealing a wee at the start!

The Rock Tavern, Wilden

# 198

Date: Thursday 17th May 2012
Pub: The Rock Tavern, Wilden
Food: Un-boring sandwiches and chips
Beers: HPA, Tribute & Aspalls cider
Virgins: none
Visitors: Alan
Hare: Lassie

Trail: approximately 25 hashers and a couple of Labradors this evening (a rough guesstimate as I forgot to count at the start – oops! Thankfully, nearly all stayed for the food so that was able to be rectified later).  A lovely, warm, dry run this evening, starting out along the old railway line, winding down to Hartlebury, through what looked like someone’s back garden and where a few false trails caused us to temporarily lose a couple of the cocky front runners.  From Hartlebury up to Lincomb, where some of the residents at the caravan park wondered what on earth was going on?!  Down to Lincomb Lock then back across the common where Hash Quack’s fan club were waiting to cheer her on (maybe they had a secret supply of nibbles for her?)  4 Hash halts this evening with a range of the more traditional sweets but of course, Hard On brought his own supply too.  Lots of pics taken by the hash flash – hope they make it onto here…

Thanks to the Rock Tavern for the wonderful selection of sandwiches plus a tour of the caves too.

Down Downs: our newly appointed RA was doing a recital somewhere else this evening but Crossdresser stepped up to the mark to award them to the hare for his flat run, only lightly dusted with flour; The Italian Job - 2nd week running for this young buck but his enthusiasm backfired on him this time; Who’s the Daddy – despite the new club vest, still managed to join Italian Job in tonight’s Lost Losers Club; Hard On – the Childline award for failing to notice his son was missing at the first hash halt and finally to Wrong for his impromptu massage at the last hash halt.  A special mention to Hard On for not knowing where TBA is… Is there any hope?

The Station Inn, Hagley

#197

Date: Thursday 10th May 2012
Pub: The Station Inn, Hagley
Food: off the menu
Beers: Marston’s beers
Virgins: Luke & Rob
Visitors: none

Hare: Clodhopper

Trail: 25 hashers (including 2 children) plus 3 dogs tonight for what was advertised as a 5 mile, flat run – proof that men have no idea of measures as it was actually clocked as a 7 mile run by the front-runners! A lovely trail  through the beautiful houses in Hagley, through the countryside down to Churchill and Blakedown, crossing the railway line a couple of times (leaving noone on the tracks!), looping back around through the rapeseed fields with another trip around the houses and back to the Station. The obligatory sweets (including aero bubbles – yummy!) at all 3 hash halts plus another hard and soft selection from Hard On.

Down downs: awarded by Doggy Fashion to the Hare, Hopscotch for her spectacular fall from a stile and virgins, Rob and Luke.

Namings: Ethan as “Tough Love” after showing his father no mercy as he prepares for his marathon, David (Ethan’s dad) as “Who’s the Daddy?” as noone has ever really known his name until tonight (despite everyone knowing Ethan’s – see previous blogs) and Luke as “The Italian Job” named quickly before he “joins up” in September.

Special mentions: to Trenchfoot and Luke for their shortcuts, Hash Quack noted for leaving her crusts at a previous hash buffet and consequently now is also known as Dr Nibbles, and for Hard On for 1) falling into an electric fence, 2) wearing his socks on the wrong feet (despite them being clearly labelled!) and 3) for his ongoing supply of sweets!

Best wishes from all to The Saint – wishing you a speedy recovery!
